DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson field hockey freshman Anna Davis has been named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in the Wildcats' first two games of the season. Davis finished the weekend with two goals for a total of four points.
Davis notched her first career tally in her collegiate debut, scoring the Wildcats' lone goal in their 5-1 loss to William & Mary on Saturday. The Salisbury, Md., native took a feed from Tyler McFayden and sent it past the Tribe goalkeeper less than nine minutes into the contest.
In Sunday's match vs. Georgetown, Davis scored on a pass from Annie Evans to put the 'Cats up 2-0 with 15 minutes left to play. They would go on to rout the Hoyas 4-0.
The Wildcats will head to Kentucky for their first road trip of the 2012 season. They will face No. 23 Louisville at Tanger Stadium on Sept. 1 in a 2 p.m. contest before meeting Ball State the following afternoon in a 2 p.m. match in Louisville.
