7/23/2012 11:01:00 AM | DAF
The Davidson Athletic Foundation closed out the 2011-12 fiscal year with a remarkable $1,836,224 in annual gifts, surpassing a $1.5 million goal.
In total, 33% of former athletes gave directly to athletics this year. The percentage participation of alumni athletes giving back to athletics has hovered at the 28% mark since 2008.
“Thank you again for another terrific year,” said DAF Director Annie Porges '85. “The participation from former athletes in the Wildcat Top 21 is such a positive step as we continue to engage alumni in our efforts to raise dollars for athletics. I look forward to greater success in 2012-13.”
The Wildcat Top 21, a giving competition among all former Davidson athletes, tracks participation in giving to the DAF. Women's soccer alumnae took top honors in the Wildcat Top 21, as 50% of alumnae made gifts to athletics this year. Volleyball alumnae saw the greatest increase in participation with a 12.5% jump up from last year.
The DAF also found success with its shared partnership with the annual fund in educating senior athletes on the importance of annual giving through the senior class gift. A generous 95.5% of senior athletes made a gift to college, while a total 94.6% of the senior class contributed to the annual fund.
Overall, Davidson brought in $28.2 million in cash and secured more than $52.6 million in commitments last year. The 2012 Annual Fund achieved tremendous success, celebrating a record-breaking $14.3 million raised and 64.32% alumni participation. No other school in the country has reported a higher participation rate.
