COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Davidson rising senior Sarah Fisher was one of five goalkeepers named to the USA Field Hockey South Region High Performance Training Squad on Wednesday.
USA Field Hockey's High Performance Training Centers identify and train potential National Team athletes through comprehensive training and skill enhancement sessions, as well as premier level competitions. High Performance Centers allow athletes to train in regional areas close to their homes by some of the country's top coaches.
North Carolina associate head coach Grant Fulton will lead the South Region. The Tar Heels finished as national finalists in 2011.
“We are thrilled that Sarah Fisher was selected to the South Region High Performance Squad,” said Davidson head coach Ginny Turner. “This is an excellent opportunity for Sarah to improve her skills and play with the best players in our region. Sarah is already a very talented goalkeeper, so this will be a fantastic experience for her.”
Fisher has started for the Wildcats the past two seasons and was twice named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week during the 2011 season.
