Field Hockey Honored by NFHCA for Academic Success

CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Davidson field hockey team was recognized for its success in the classroom, earning recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Monday as a 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award winner and placing eight members on the National Academic Squad.
The Wildcats were one of 60 teams honored for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2011 fall semester. Fellow NorPac members Appalachian State, California, Liberty, Radford and Stanford also earned the award. American led all teams with a 3.55 GPA.
Additionally, seniors Meg Jarrell, Steph Meador, Christine Rua and Amanda Vredenburgh, juniors Brit Donaldson and Annie Evans and sophomores Tyler McFayden and Brooke Osborne were named to the SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year.
