CHANDLER, Ariz. – Davidson field hockey goalkeeper Sarah Fisher has received her second honor of the postseason, earning Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Southeast Region Second Team accolades as announced by the organization on Thursday.
Previously named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Year, the senior finished the season with a pair of shutouts after helping hold four opposing teams scoreless. Fisher ended the season with a 2.43 goals against average and a save percentage of .749, ranking 16th in the NCAA in that category. Her 164 saves in 2012 pushed her into third place on Davidson's all-time saves list. She departs as the program's all-time leader in minutes, having played 4,678 in her four years.
“Sarah had a tremendous season this year and being named to the all-region second team is a fantastic honor that she deserves for all of her hard work and dedication on the field,” said head coach Ginny Turner.
Both Fisher and fellow senior Finley Amato were named alternates for the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game, with Amato later being selected to the roster. However, she was unable to compete in the game.
