
Fisher Tabbed NorPac East Defensive Player of the Year

FARMVILLE, Va. – Davidson field hockey goalkeeper Sarah Fisher was named the 2012 NorPac East Defensive Player of the Year and three other Wildcats were honored at the annual NorPac Tournament banquet held at Longwood University on Wednesday evening.
Forward Finley Amato and midfielder Annie Evans were named to the NorPac East All-Conference team, while forward Brit Donaldson was acknowledged as part of the NorPac All-Academic team.
Fisher is the fourth Wildcat in program history to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors and the first since 2007. Jessica Barton (2002), Sarah Nolan (2003, 2004) and Jen Willis (2006, 07) also claimed the honor, with Nolan being the only other goalkeeper to do so.
A five-time NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week honoree, Fisher finished the regular season with two shutouts and a goals against average of 2.29. She recorded 144 saves for a save percentage of .762 on the season, helping to hold four opponents scoreless. In conference play, her GAA dropped to 1.72 while her save percentage increased to .808. Her 7.58 saves per game ranks her 12th in the NCAA, while her .762 save percentage is 16th in the nation. She was also named to the all-conference team.
Amato became Davidson's all-time leader in points with 113 as well as goals with 45 in her senior season. In the regular season finale, she tied the program's all-time assists mark, recording her 23rd career helper. Amato leads the team in scoring with 11 goals and six assists, including three game-winners. The 2012 season marks her third on the NorPac East All-Conference team.
Garnering all-conference honors for the first time in her career, Evans finished second on the team in scoring with five goals. She posted four assists to finish second on the squad in that category and was the lone Wildcat to convert on a penalty stroke. Most recently, Evans notched the game-winning goal in the 'Cats 1-0 win over Radford. She ranks fourth in program history with 15 career assists.
Donaldson is a senior biology major who boasts a 3.42 grade point average. She is a member of the Beta Beta Beta Biology Honor Society and is a founder and leader of Davidson College's Pre-Physician Assistant Society. Donaldson is also a member of the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Med Honor Society and is involved with the Leader of 'Cats Student mentoring program as well as the Order of Omega Honor Society for Greek Organizations.
The Wildcats, who enter the 2012 NorPac Tournament as the East's No. 3 seed, will face No. 2W UC Davis on Thursday in an 11 a.m. match up.
