RADFORD, Va. – For the third consecutive week, Davidson field hockey goalkeeper Sarah Fisher has been named the NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league on Monday.
Continuing with her stellar season, Fisher recorded her first shutout of the year in the Wildcats' 2-0 win at Colgate on Monday. She made a season-high 16 stops in the contest, including a crucial save on a Raider penalty stroke, to preserve the shutout. Fisher also made nine saves in the team's loss to then-No. 16 Wake Forest to finish the week with a GAA of 3.00 and a save percentage of .809 with 25 total saves.
Earlier in the season Fisher held Georgetown and Appalachian State scoreless, but did not get credit for the shutout after splitting the action with Carolyn Macek. She had previously earned NorPac honors Sept. 4, Oct.2 and Oct. 9.
The Wildcats will head to Virginia for a two-game road swing next weekend where they will take on Longwood at noon on Saturday before facing Liberty in Sunday at 2 p.m. in Lynchburg.
