HAMILTON, N.Y. - Sarah Fisher made 16 stops to earn the shutout win as the Davidson field hockey team blanked Colgate 2-0 to move to 7-7 overall on Sunday afternoon at Tyler's Field.

Finley Amato, who finished the game with a goal and an assist, led the offense with four shots in the contest. Melissa Funsten, who recorded three shots, also had a goal while Annie Evans picked up an assist. The Raiders outshot the Wildcats, 24-13, and took 12 penalty corners to Davidson's five.

Laure Dittman had six shots for Colgate (3-11), four of which came on goal. Eliana Brown had four while Amanda DiDomizio had five stops in the game.

Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, though both teams had opportunities. Fisher came up with several strong saves to keep the Raiders off the board, including back-to-back sprawling stops on a pair of shots by Eliana Brown. DiDomizio was just as strong for Colgate, making a save on a last second shot by Pidcock to keep the score tied at 0-0 at the half.

Amato and Evans teamed up to give the 'Cats the 1-0 lead early in the second half. Evans won a midfield battle and sent the ball into the circle to Amato, who wound up and knocked it in for the score just over a minute in.

Later in the second half, it was Amato who picked up the assist as Funsten scored off a penalty corner. Amato tapped a pass over to Funsten, who slammed it in from the right corner to give the Wildcats the 2-0 lead.

Fisher made nine saves to close out the half, holding the Raiders scoreless. She had an especially impressive save 53 minutes into the contest, coming up with the stop on a penalty stroke awarded to Dittman to preserve the shutout.

The Wildcats will remain in New York, traveling to Ithaca on Monday for a 4 p.m. tilt at Cornell.
