RADFORD, Va. – Davidson field hockey junior Finley Amato was named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week after tallying a goal and an assist against No. 16 Louisville Saturday, the league announced Tuesday.
Amato (Lake Forest, Ill.) assisted on Davidson's first goal of the game, blasting a shot from the top of the circle that was deflected into the cage by senior Christine Rua. The Cardinals scored the next two goals, but Amato evened the game at 2-2 after weaving her way through the Louisville defense early in the first half. Louisville ultimately prevailed for a 5-3 victory.
This is Amato's fourth career NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week award. She claimed it three times in 2010 en route to taking NorPac East Player and Offensive Player of the Year honors after scoring a conference-leading, Davidson-record 39 points.
The Wildcats will hit the road for their next four games, taking on William & Mary (Sept. 10), VCU (Sept. 11), No. 16 Albany (Sept. 17) and Siena (Sept. 18). Their next game at Belk Turf Field will be Saturday, Sept. 24 at 12 p.m. against Robert Morris.
