RADFORD, Va. – Davidson sophomore Tyler McFayden was named the NorPac East Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a double-overtime, game-winning goal for Davidson field hockey, the league announced Monday.
McFayden, a Charlotte, N.C. native and Charlotte Country Day graduate, made her first career goal a special one Saturday, as she broke a 1-1 tie to give the Wildcats their first-ever win over William & Mary. She then assisted on Davidson's lone goal in a 2-1 loss at VCU Sunday.
A Davidson student-athlete has claimed a NorPac weekly award in each of the three weeks this season. Junior goalkeeper Sarah Fisher won the first defensive award of the season, while junior forward Finley Amato was last week's offensive player of the week.
The Wildcats will travel for their next two games, taking on No. 16 Albany (Sept. 17) and Siena (Sept. 18). Their next game at Belk Turf Field will be Saturday, Sept. 24 at 12 p.m. against Robert Morris.
