CHANDLER, Ariz. – Davidson seniors Clare Perry and Ellie Szykowny were named to the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad for a fourth consecutive season and were joined by eight other Wildcat teammates, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced Wednesday.
In addition to Perry and Szykowny, juniors Steph Meador, Christine Rua and Amanda Vredenburgh, sophomores Brit Donaldson and Madison Parrish, and freshmen Carolyn Macek, Brooke Osborne and Floor Wolfhagen were honored.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2010-11 academic year.
The 2010 season was one of the most successful in program history, as NorPac Coach of the Year Ginny Turner guided the Wildcats to a 14-8 record and the NorPac East Division title. Perry and Meador were two of four Wildcats named to the All-NorPac East team.
In February, the Wildcats were honored as a Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2010 fall semester.
