Field Hockey Earns NFHCA National Academic Team Award

CHANDLER, Ariz. – In addition to their success on the field last season, the Davidson field hockey team was successful in the classroom, earning recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Tuesday as a 2010 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award winner.
The Wildcats were one of 57 teams honored for posting a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2010 fall semester. Fellow NorPac members Appalachian State, California and Pacific also earned the award. Northwestern led all teams with a 3.54 GPA.
The 2010 season was one of the most successful in program history, as NorPac Coach of the Year Ginny Turner guided the Wildcats to a 14-8 record and the NorPac East Division title. Rising junior Finley Amato led the league in scoring with a team-record 39 points and earned NorPac East Player of the Year honors.
