Davidson Sweeps N.C. Central in Home Opener Tuesday

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Senior Sarabeth Peele and junior Erin Lupfer each recorded nine kills to lead the Davidson Wildcat volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-17) win over the N.C. Central Eagles Tuesday night in the team's home opener at Belk Arena.
Davidson (6-4) also got five kills from freshman Tindall Sewell, on just six attacks, and four kills, seven digs and five aces from classmate Caroline Brown. Senior setter Hayley Lawson finished with 26 assists and led the defense with nine digs. Peele finished with a match-high four blocks.
Sashalee Wallen led N.C. Central (1-9) with seven kills to go along with four from Kalin Russell. Jzima-Malaki Kalao finished with 13 assists, and Raven King paced the defense with 10 digs.
The Wildcats return to action this weekend, when they conclude tournament play with their own Nfinity Wildcat Classic. Davidson plays in the second match of the day Friday, taking on Eastern Michigan at 7 p.m. after High Point and Boise State play at 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats have a pair of matches on Saturday, facing High Point at 12:30 p.m. and Boise State at 7 p.m.
