OMAHA, Neb. – Ian Paddock (Ohio State) pinned Davidson's Alex Radsky in the opening round of the NCAA Wrestling Championships Thursday in Qwest Center. Radsky will face Sean Clair (Eastern Michigan) in the second session, which begins Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. eastern.
Paddock (23-12) built an 8-0 lead before scoring the fall early in the second frame in 3:38.
It was the first loss by fall for Radsky this season. He now stands at 17-5 on the year. He will try to become the first Davidson wrestler to win a match at the NCAA tournament since Kerry Keith did so in 1968. A second loss would eliminate him from the tournament.
Clair (20-13) also lost by fall. No. 1 Jayson Ness (Minnesota) added to his undefeated season record (27-0) by pinning him in 2:12.
The second session will be broadcast on NCAA.com.
