ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Fisher was named to the Womensfieldhockey.com Division I honor roll for the week of September 20-26, the publication announced Friday.
Fisher was one of 12 players recognized across the country for the week.
Fisher, a sophomore goalkeeper from Fredericksburg, Va., was a vital part of Davidson's success for the week, as all three wins were decided by one goal. In the Wildcats' conference opener at Radford, Fisher set a new career high for saves with 10 to earn her third shutout of the season (the team's fourth) to allow Davidson to take a 1-0 victory. She followed that performance with a career-best 11-save performance in the overtime victory over Richmond. Fisher came up big again the following day against Georgetown, making a game-saving stop on a breakaway in the second overtime period and making a key save in the penalty stroke competition.
Fisher ranks second in the conference and 14th in the nation in save percentage at .775. She first won the NorPac East defensive award in the second week of the season after earning a shutout win over Lafayette.
Davidson will return to NorPac competition Saturday at 1 p.m., hosting Longwood at Belk Turf Field.
