Wildcat Pride Program a Success

"Go to Games. Get Free Stuff. It’s that simple"
Davidson's Wildcat Pride program started the 2008-2009 school year with a new look back in August, and it turned into a huge success.
The program's new features included an electronic scanning system, a brand new website, a Facebook page, and great rewards. Students earned free Davidson gear as they received points for every home sporting event that they attended. Rewards this year included preferred seating at Men's Basketball home games, free books, a Nintendo Wii, Davidson clothing, and autographed memorabilia. Overall, about 1,426 students participated in the Wildcat Pride system at some point during the school year.
The students in the top-100 Wildcat Pride points were placed in a lottery for each home men's basketball game, and 50 lucky students were able to pick up their tickets before the rest of the student body. For certain games, the top-50 students with the most Wildcat Pride points were automatic winners for early ticket pick-up. The ranking of students continually fluctuated based on the events attended throughout the year, so that those students supporting all sports at Davidson received the best seating at the basketball games.
Many Wildcat Pride events were worth one point each, but events that were highly promoted were worth two or three points each, depending on the promotion behind the event. For example, if a student bough a Pink t-shirt and then wore it to the Pink Zone women's basketball game, they were eligible to receive three Pride points instead of one.
For the year, there were 34 students who finished the school year with 50 or more Pride points, 78 students who closed with 35 or more points, and 598 students that had at least 10 or more points.
Terence Lemke '11 finished in first place and won a Nintendo Wii with a total of 100 points and 84 events attended. Other grand prizes included $300 worth of books to the Davidson Bookstore (winner: Kendall Cannon with 52 points), a $200 gift card to Target (winner: Katherine Crevi with 60 points) and a free gym membership (winner: Marielle Abalo with 49 points).
Wildcat Pride will be reviewing the success of the past school year and planning for new rewards and opportunities for the 2009-2010 school year over the summer.
Wildcat Pride is an annual incentive program created by the Davidson Sports Marketing department to promote student attendance and involvement at Davidson Athletic events. An increase in student attendance will ultimately result in a Home Field Advantage for Davidson athletics, as well as enhance the overall experience for players and spectators.
