CULLOWHEE, N.C. -- After the first day of competition, the Davidson Wildcat men are in fourth place as competition opened on the 2008 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Cullowhee, N.C. Saturday afternoon.
Junior Will Funderburg led the Wildcats on day one. He finished second in the discus throw with a mark of 151 feet 2 inches (46.09 meters).
Junior Kwame Som-Pimpong finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 19 feet 6 1/4 inches (5.95 meters), and senior Brad Troxell qualified for the finals in the 400 meters with a time of 49.63.
Appalachian State is leading on both the women's and men's side, and competition will conclude tomorrow evening.
