DAVIDSON, N.C. – Despite taking two of the three doubles maches, Davidson could not carry the momentum over into singles play as the Wofford Terriers earned a 4-3 win over the Wildcat men's tennis team in Southern Conference action on Thursday afternoon at the Covington Tennis Courts.
The Wildcats, off since Mar. 4, saw their two-game winning streak come to an end as they fell to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in league play. They also saw their five-match home win streak come to an end. Wofford evened its overall record to 8-8 and league mark to 2-2.
Senior Flaviu Simihaian and junior Ethan Jaffee set the tone early when they took home their team-leading eighth doubles win of the season with an 8-4 win at No. 1.
The sophomore duo of Eric Noble and Sam Burns teamed up for the first time this year to finish off the doubles point for Davidson with a 9-7 win at No. 2 to give the 'Cats a 1-0 lead in the match.
Noble continued his winning afternoon with a three-set win over Alan Donald at No. 3 singles. Then Junior Scott Myers earned his third straight singles win, and 10th in the past 11 matches, with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6.
