
Goeke Named NorPac Defensive Player of the Week

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After helping the Davidson Wildcats field hockey team to their first conference victory against Longwood, sophomore goalkeeper Christa Goeke has been named NorPac Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 18.
Goeke posted 12 saves against the Lancers, including seven in the first overtime period, to perserve the 'Cats 3-2 double-overtime victory on Sunday afternoon at Belk Turf Field. She also posted 10 saves in the 'Cats 2-0 loss to NorPac-foe California on Thursday night.
It is the first honor this season for Goeke and the second for the Wildcats. Senior forward Kayli Maxwell was named NorPac Conference Offensive Player of the Week earlier this season for the week of Sept. 11.
Goeke received Rookie of the Week honors last season for the week of Oct. 3, after recording a combined 17 saves against No. 19 Richmond and No. 2 Wake Forest.
The Wildcats will travel to Radford, Va. to take on the Highlanders tomorrow at 7 p.m in a conference matchup, before traveling to Boone, N.C. on Sunday for a 1:30 p.m. contest. The 'Cats return to Belk Turf to host the North Carolina Tar Heels on Tues., Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. and Michigan State at 6:30 on Fri., Sept. 28.
