DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Davidson Wildcat field hockey team wrapped up its spring season with the 'Cats' Alumnae Weekend and annual team banquet on Sat., April 14.
"We had a great spring season," Wildcat head coach Lisa Thompson said. "We have seen tremendous growth and development in our athletes."
The 'Cats opened their spring season on April 1 when they traveled to William and Mary's spring tournament to faceoff against Duke, American, VCU, Longwood and ODU in nonstop action all afternoon.
A few weeks later, Davidson hosted its own spring tournament on Sat., April 14, as the 'Cats scrimmaged against Radford, the University of Richmond, Christopher Newport and Catawba, along with a Wildcat Alumnae team.
"There was a great level of energy and excitement at our spring tournament," Thompson said. "Our girls worked hard, and it was really terrific to have so many alums back on campus. The weekend offered us an opportunity to celebrate the great women that participate in this program, past and present, and we also enjoyed opening up our campus to other great competition. Spring is a fun time to showcase new skills."
The Annual Field Hockey Banquet concluded a full day of competition, as the current and former Wildcats celebrated Davidson Field Hockey alongside family and friends.
"We have a lot of experienced and veteran players returning next fall, and we have a great opportunity ahead of us," Thompson said. "The athletes have big plans to continue their training throughout the summer months, and I look forward to starting up together again in August."
