No. 4 Field Hockey to host NorPac Tournament, No. 5 Radford on Thurs.

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Northern Pacific Field Hockey Conference Championship will be held on the campus of Davidson College at Belk Turf Field and will begin on Thurs, Nov. 2 with two first-round games and conclude with the championship game on Sat., Nov. 4 at 12:30 p.m. The fourth-seeded Wildcats (8-11, 2-4) will open tournament play on Thursday at 4 p.m. against fifth-seeded Radford (5-14, 2-4).
Davidson and Radford finished the season with identical 2-4 conference records, but the Wildcats' 1-0 overtime win over the Highlanders on Oct. 15 earned Davidson the fourth seed.
In addition to Davidson and Radford, the six-team tournament field includes No. 1 California-Berkeley (14-4, 6-0), No. 2 Stanford (8-9, 5-1), No. 3 Pacific (10-7, 4-2) and No. 6 Appalachian State (1-16, 0-6).
California earned the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye, after finishing an undefeated 6-0 in conference play to claim their eighth consecutive regular-season title. Finishing 5-1 in the conference, number-two seeded Stanford also received a first-round bye.
Fourth-seeded Davidson will battle fifth-seeded Radford in the opening game of the tournament on Thurs., Nov. 4 at 4 p.m on Belk Turf Field. The second game of the day will feature third-seeded Pacific and sixth-seeded Appalachian State at 6:30 p.m.
The winner of the first game will advance to face No. 1 California in the semifinals at 1:30 p.m. on Fri., Nov. 4, while the winner of game two will take on No. 2 Stanford at 4 p.m.
The championship game will be played at 12:30 p.m. on Sat., Nov. 5. The winner of the championship will host the winner of the Mid-American Conference Tournament in an NCAA play-in game on Tues., Nov. 7, for the right to advance to the 2006 NCAA Field Hockey Championship.
