Pastel was a two-time Southern Conference Singles Champion and is the only Davidson tennis player to earn All-SoCon honors in all four seasona as a Wildcat. He posted a career record of 108-32, including a 17-4 mark as a senior, on his way to being named SoCon Player of the Year in both the 1996 and 1997 seasons, the only player in school history to win the award and one of three in conference history to earn multiple Player of the Year honors. In 1997, he became the first Wildcat to reach the NCAA Tournament. He achieved a national ranking as high as 30th during his career and earned the Tommy Peters Award in 1998 for his outstanding athletic accomplishments while at Davidson.
