In his senior year, Pack Hindsley was voted his team's most valuable player, made the Greensboro Daily News All-State football team, was awarded Lineman of the Week by the Southern Conference twice, was named to the 1965 All-Southern Conference team, was selected as an AP honorable mention All-American, and received the college's Tommy Peters award. In 2005, the legendary football coach Homer Smith wrote of Pack, "How good was Pack? After 1965, I coached major college teams for 31 seasons. He would have starred on any of the teams. He was the 'total package' coming off the edge of the defensive line."
