Harold A. Westervelt is the only wrestler in Davidson history to win three consecutive Southern Conference championships. In 1957 and 1958, he won the conference title at 157 pounds. In 1959, Westervelt moved up to the 177 pound class and won again. Two years ago, he was named to the Southern Conference's 75th Anniversary team - the only Davidson wrestler selected for that honor. Westervelt was also a three year letterman in football for the Wildcats from 1956 through 1958, the last time Davidson posted three consecutive winning seasons.
