Dan serves as director of baseball at IMG Academy. Prior to joining IMG, he served as head baseball coach at Xavier (2005) and Miami of Ohio (2006-13). At Davidson, Dan majored in history and was a four-year letterman for the baseball team. He earned the starting job behind the plate during his freshman year. Twice he was named All-Southern Conference; he finished his career with a .305 batting average. His finest campaign came in his senior year when he batted .342 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs in 41 games. Dan was an excellent defensive catcher, throwing out 43 percent would-be base stealers his senior season. After getting drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the seventh round, he ascended to the AAA ranks and served as the bullpen catcher for the Chicago Cubs .He went on to spend 4 years managing and coaching in the Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres organizations.
