CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One of the most iconic buildings in Charlotte's skyline, Wells Fargo's Duke Energy Center, will be lit red Wednesday night, July 2, in recognition of Davidson's move to the Atlantic 10 Conference, it was announced Monday.

Davidson will officially join the Atlantic 10 Tuesday, ushering in a new era for its athletics program.

Davidson is one of the northern-most towns in Mecklenburg County, but Davidson College has strong ties to Charlotte. Davidson's Charlotte alumni chapter boasts nearly 4,000 alumni, parents and friends, and the Wildcats men's basketball team has, historically and recently, hosted its biggest games in Charlotte. Twelve Davidson graduates have served as mayors of Charlotte since 1879, including two of the last three: current mayor Dan Clodfelter '72 and current U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx '93 (2009-13).

Fans who take a picture of Wells Fargo's Duke Energy Center lit red Wednesday and tweet or Instagram it at @DavidsonWildcat with the hashtag #catsarewild will be entered into a random drawing to win an A-10 inaugural season t-shirt.

Wells Fargo's Duke Energy Center, located at 520 South Tryon Street in Charlotte, is regularly lit different colors nightly in support of community organizations.
