CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Davidson women's cross country team will return to McAlpine Park for the second time this season as they compete in the Royal Cross Country Challenge on Friday.
Queens University of Charlotte will act as the host for the event, which will start at 3:30 p.m. with the Women's Gold 5,000-meter race. Other schools competing in the event include Anderson, Charleston Southern, Duke, Florida State, Liberty, Savannah State, South Carolina and UNC Charlotte. Fellow SoCon members Elon, Western Carolina and Wofford will also be represented.
The Wildcats took fifth place at the meet last season, with then-freshmen Erin Osment and Sarah Paddon both turning in top-10 finishes to lead the squad. McAlpine Park has been a popular course for the Wildcats in recent years and will serve as the site of this season's NCAA Southeast Regional meet.
Davidson last competed on Sept. 28, also at McAlpine Park, when they ran in the Charlotte Cross Country Challenge. Sophomore Presley Parkes and Osment led the 'Cats to a 10th place finish at the event.
